YouTube Math

I read a while ago that six hours of video content is uploaded every minute on YouTube. Six HOURS every MINUTE.

That’s 360 hours of video every hour.

8,640 hours of video every day.

3,153,600 hours of video every year… There are 8,760 hours in a year…

So, if YouTube were a planet, you would age 360 years for every one Earth year. That is the equivalent amount of footage.

Average life for an American is about 75 years. That means every 2.5 months of your life, a lifespan’s worth of video footage has been put up on YouTube.

At UCLA, we’ve been in school for almost ten weeks. I can barely fathom that in the last ten weeks there’s been enough video put on YouTube, that I could be born and sit in front of the computer and watch just those 10 weeks of uploaded stuff… for the next 75 years.

Mind = boggled.
