Now, for your viewing pleasure and only six weeks after it actually happened, Camille Fairbanks! Speaking some words!
(I’m going to change the starting video icon as soon as it lets me)
And for some words from the behind-the-scenes man… This is the longest thing, I think, that I’ve ever put together. For one reason or another, that is interesting. It gave me a chance to work with the pacing of a longer piece, and though it’s definitely not a story arc, pacing still affects it. Some of the longer pieces I was initially hesitant to leave in because I worried about your attention span and the unwritten “five minute” rule for videos on the Internet. But I realized that the poems are powerful and to cut them up too much or to try and add visuals would ultimately distract from their messages, so I left them. I can only hope your attention spans don’t snap.
Also, the little animation defining Spoken Word is slowed down from the first attempt I made at it, so it should be easier to read now. This is also a major first for me. I find typography animations really compelling, so that’s definitely something you can look forward to having more of in the future, either as parts of projects or as stand alone things.
But overall, it’s not really how I put it together or the little animations I did, that’s all self-centered talk…
This is Camille’s video. She had the GUTS to get up there and perform her pieces with admirable conviction and she should be, nay, IS the reason for these videos. So, congratulate her on her courage, her success, and her $25 Gift Card to Best Buy.
<3 ya Cameeeel.
